Back in the day there was a thread about what kind of music we liked to listen to. At the time, I was on a huge fusion kick. Saw this today and thought of that thread, and you all.

I've been using this program called Last.fm to find new music to listen to. It watches what you listen to on your Itunes/Windows Media/etc. and then offers suggestions for songs that you'd like based on stats its gathered from people with similar tastes. It continuously updates with the songs you play, the frequency you play them, etc. Surprisingly enough, it actually works.
Oh and it's free, of course. Like I would ever pay for something like this.

A long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) I was a musician. And no, I don't mean Doomsday's first (and blessedly last) release, "Rock 'till you Vomit." I was a "serious" folksy-politically-alternative singer-songwriter, and as angst-filled as the next guy. The music wasn't bad. I was fortunately enough to attract the loyalty of several top-notched musicians who made me look good. One of these musicians was a fella named Bill Prouten. Bill played saxophone. He played smokin' good sax. Seriously. I went on to become a lawyer. Bill went on to become a jazz instructor at a college. We have drifted apart, but have seen each other over the years. I have always been impressed by his life-long committment to his art. This week I received a CD in the mail from Bill. Turns out he has finally made a CD! I immediately threw it in, and it is a great jazz album. Check it out: billprouten.com/?page_id=6...and if you even see my buddy Billy's name up in lights, buy a ticket. He should be a lot more famous than he is.

He sounds great, I hope after the bills have settled down after Christmas, to order one of his CDs. Thanks for sharing that link.

If you like last.fm, try musicovery.com
It has a nice little interface that you can play around with to set your genre, time period and mood.
