I think this is an excellent plan, and wholeheartedly endorse it. Hunters are the single most powerful and easiest solo class to play in the game. This does not, unfortunately, translate into great team players, but somehow rather the opposite. It is a fact that hunters are the least desired unit for teamwork. This is sad, particularly when the hunter is the the only class with a in-combat repeatedable universal crowd-control ability (a "ICRUCC" ), which should make them highly desired. I laud any hunter who is tired of the "bum rap," tired of hearing the same /sighs and comments about hunter wipes, and does something about it. Learning to hunt and trap well for a team is not the same as being able to pull a mob into ice. Thanks again Landorian & Celera.

Lando, we were thinking the same thing about a practice session, you just posted it before I did. I do think that we have a number of very skilled hunters in the group, including several who do very well at teamwork in instances. I've studied some different ideas for trapping on various forums and found some ideas I think we should try out. There are things we all know intellectually but need to practice to really master the skills. This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you are interested, let me or Lando know. Weekends are generally best for me too.

After 43 seasons, I have to acknowledge that my "team" generally consists of myself, Daramoon and my cat Alexandra (when she's not filling her belly, of course). Long have I wondered whether our abilities could efficiently aid a party, and long have I pondered my skills as a hunter.
Aside from pulling, feigning and managing to keep your foes off you (and off your healer), what else does a hunter need to master to be successful in this day and age?

A hunter's abilities are very useful to a party, Heng, if the hunter is skilled. Sadly, not all hunters are skilled and it is perhaps easier for an unskilled hunter to cause his party problems than for most other classes. Because of this, hunters are often undervalued in team efforts.
While we have set aside, for the moment, the idea of getting everyone together at once, there is much we can learn from each other in smaller groups. I would be happy to spend some time with you and Daramoon, with others if they are interested. Around the 40th season is a good time to start honing one's skills in teamwork -- I wish I had learned more when I was at that point in my training. I would have annoyed Warden Fechak far less in our first ventures to Blackrock and Stratholme. Perhaps he would not drink quite so much today if I had not caused him such stress in those early trips.
Also, there are several Defenders around your season, who are interested in traveling to places such as the Scarlet Monastery. I know Thelanya and Nedward are hoping to travel there soon.

Thank you for your generous offer, Celera. We are always willing to join others from the Defenders in our travels, though time is often not often on our side. This tends to discourage us from offering our talents or recruiting other guild members towards quests of common purpose.
((Nights are usually impossible for me, as my commute from the office takes around 2 1/2 hours; I get up for work at 4:30am, so late nights aren't happening during the week. This leaves me weekends only usually, and the occasional Friday night if I can log in without waiting forever))
Would you have any advice you could dispense here, just in case we miss each other? In my 43rd season, I am beginning to feel very uninformed despite my best intentions.

I looked through the three threads in the Academy regarding hunters (one by Finney and two by Windfoot) and I can't think of anything specific that isn't covered there. Of course, information and skill are not quite the same thing. Getting together online gives us a chance to practice the things we've read about. I understand double trapping perfectly well, but when I attempt it I am successful less than half the time -- you have to get the timing and placement of the trap right -- which would be easier if everyone in the fight would stand still for a few seconds, but it's hard to arrange for that

There's a dwarf tugging on my tunic -- Malka wants me to tell you she still needs the Cathedral in Scarlet Monastery, and would be happy to run the whole darned thing for the benefit of a party.
