House of Dalaran Code:
The Dalaran Order of the Defenders shall strive to maintain constant control over the abilities that have been gifted to us. Never at any point shall we seek power over knowledge and wisdom. We shall use our talents only in service to the Alliance to defend the good citizens of our realm. We shall never forget that with such power comes responsibility and shall bring the rebirth of Dalaran in our own image.
House of Dalaran Ranks:
Lord/Lady
Warden
Scholar
Member
Initiate
Lord/Lady – The leader of the House who will handle promotion and demotions in the House. Also will choose the one to be Warden.
Warden – Second to the Lord and watches over the House if the Lord is not available. If something was to ever happen to the Lord, the Warden would step in to take his place. His word is valued highly with the Lord on promotions and demotions within the House. The Warden is also a commander of the House forces in a military operation. Reports only to the Lord or the Council of Lords. Also aids in the training and development of the Members and Initiates.
Scholar – An advanced Member rank of the House of Dalaran. Scholars have proven their knowledge of scholarly matters and have shown their dedication to the House and Guild through their actions both while adventuring and within Defenders Hall. Scholars are entitled to bear the title Master or Mistress. Scholars are charged with sharing their knowledge of the world with others, even those not of Dalaran, to help with greater understanding and teachings.
Member – A member of the House of Dalaran and the main body as such. Members are knowledgeable in their talents and have proven themselves to either the Lord or Warden to be raised as such. Members will aid in overseeing Novices with guidance and knowledge.
Initiate – An initiate of the House has yet to prove themselves in the eyes of the Lord or Warden to become a Member. To promote themselves past this ranking they will have to complete a test of their knowledge by the Lord or Warden or prove through their actions and behaviors their worth to both the House of Dalaran and the Defenders as a whole. The test could be simply witnessing the Novice in battle utilizing their talents or a quest appointed by the leaders of the House. It could also consist of an interviewing process where their knowledge is brought into question firsthand. Each new Initiate will complete a probationary period of 30 days.
Dalaran Rules:
First and foremost our rules are the same as those of the Defenders. They are the founding guidelines that we must always follow.
No elitism. We are no different than those not gifted with the talents of magic. We are still a man, a woman…a person. Never shall we allow our egos to overwhelm us, losing that piece of control needed to maintain true hold over our abilities. Elitism led to the mistakes of our predecessors and the invasion of the Burning Legion. We shall right that wrong.
In the field of battle we are under the appointed field commander of the House and the general of the Defender forces. We are to respect the command and follow the orders to the fullest, staying in the back casting our spells, allowing the melee soldiers to have the front lines. There will be no camping alongside the lifeless body of a Horde member in case his gods bring his spirit back to the vessel.
We will respect all within our number as no one person is greater than the next. The chain of command or structure built into the House is simply for that. Structure and also to help keep things organized. No one shall abuse their authority and shall work diligently to assist others passing on any wisdom we may have.
Enjoy yourself. A simple rule but a vital one. The best way to maintain control over such destructive abilities is to maintain balance in one’s spirit. With that in mind we must strive to find enjoyment in this realm and aid our comrades in doing such. Any suggestions or ideas feel free to always speak them as your voice shall always be heard and respected.
To Become a Scholar:
Those in the House of Dalaran should always work toward greater understanding and knowledge of our world. Knowledge must come before power; wisdom must be gained through experience. To earn the rank of Scholar, a member of the House of Dalaran must be able to demonstrate both.
To show the study of knowledge each member wishing to be tested for Scholarship must choose a passage from one of the many books that can be found in our world. The member must relate a short tale in the Hall of how they found the book and passage. In a short ceremony, with fellow guild mates as witness, the member must recite the passage and give a brief explanation of why they chose this passage and what wisdom it has granted them.
Should the member accomplish these tasks, and should the Lady of the House feel they have shown sufficient support and encouragement to their fellow guild members, they will then be advanced to the rank of Scholar and earn the right to bear the title Master/Mistress.
((Many of the in game books can be found in Gudran's library. One need not actually find the book in game to accomplish this part of the trial. However, you are required to write a short Vignette about finding the book (whether you actually did in game or not). The chosen passage doesn't have to be a long one, but you do have to be able to explain why it means something to your character.))
