You've probably all heard this story by now, but I decided to record it here for posterity anyway.
So, the other night I'm warlocking through the Mana Tombs with a pug. (One nice thing about BC is that pugs are not as good as playing with people you know, but they are a lot better than they were in the lower levels.) So, we are going along well enough, and when we get to that big blue fellow (Pandemonium?) *I* was the one who got to explain to everyone that when he gets a green bubble around him you have to stop doing any damage because it all gets reflected back to you. I felt like such an expert! Of course, these are usually my worst moments.
So, as I often do on boss or near-boss mobs, I cast a Curse of Doom. CoD, for those who don't know, is a nifty spell that does nothing for a full minute. (No damage, no aggro.) At the end of the minute, it does one big flash of damage -- I've been getting about 4500. Of course, it's no use on smaller mobs, as they don't generally take a whole minute to kill.
So, I cast CoD, then proceeded with the shadowbolts and what not, dutifully stopping when the green bubble appeared. And as I'm standing there, holding my fire, minding my own business, I suddenly fall over dead.
Apparently, the minute was up, and the green bubble was up, and I actually one-shotted myself.
Now, I know that there have been many tales told of Tim's ability to pull multiple rooms full of mobs in LBRS and other such places. But, heck, lots of pets can do that. This was totally unique (I think). If you can't succeed, you might as well fail in some really spectacular manner.
