(I don't see any pointers to this type of discussion, so I apologize if this is Off Topic, or redundant. Pointers / redirects welcome)
I'm just starting out as a warlock (well, level 30), and I'm finally ready to start scripting stuff in macros.
However, I like to be efficient / lazy, so if there are any good macro's out there, I'd love to get a head start.
The macro's I've been thinking about are simple spell-chains:
When I have the initiative: Immolate -> corruption -> curse of agony -> wand
When I have the initiative and my VW is tanking: Immolate -> corruption -> curse of agony -> shadow bolt
When I don't have the initiative: corruption -> curse of agony -> wand
Are there other ideas for spell chains?
I generally try to optimize for max(damage/time), esp when soloing, rather than min(manna/damage inflicted), so I like to start with immolate (while the VW closes with the target), so that the casting time happens before combat starts. When combat is underway, I start with the instant spells (I sped up corruption, obviously...)
I am investing in Destruction talents now, to shorten the casting time for Shadowbolt, and to get Shadow Burn (!)... Jack of all trades, master of none - that's me! Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

There's currently no way to use the scripting system in game to cast a chain of spells. Closest you could do is set up a script that cast immolate, then checked for the immolate dot. If the immolate dot was up, it cast curse of agony. If curse of agony and the immolate dot were up, it casts corruption, and if all 3 are up, it starts wanding. However, you'd have to click it once for immolate, again for Agony, again for corruption, and again to wand... all you'd be doing is clicking 1 button 4 times, rather than 4 buttons 1 time each.

However, you *can* bind such a macro to a single key, so you can then autocast by mashing a single key.
In raids, my DPS characters use a macro like that to manage assisting. I try to assist the MA but if he's not there, it assists the backup. Makes it easy for me to manage assisting properly when the MA goes down.
I also use a similar macro for building hate when I am Dire Bear tanking. The logic is:
If the target is not targetting me, and growl is not on cooldown, then growl. If growl is on cooldown or the mob is already targetting me, and it is not afflicted with Faerie Fire, then throw Faerie Fire. If it's already targetting me or growl is on cooldown, and it's already got FF on it, use demoralizing roar. If the things I already listed are not appropriate, use Bash. If none of the previous things apply or can be used, Maul the heck out of the target.
I bind this to a single key and just mash away when I need to build hate. I'm a big fan of binding things to single keys and mashing that key, a trick I learned from Decursive.

Ya'll remind me of that picture of the single button Nintendo controller... what fun is this?? Ah well, to each their own I suppose!

I have often wondered: is there a comprehensive scripting guide somewhere out there? A link would be really helpful.

I'll see if I can find one tomorrow, Van. I'm sure there's a few guides out there. There's a lot of stuff I could learn on this subject matter too.

Sorcha'Rei - can you post the actual macro code for the Raid macro you described?
