When we joined forces with the Lunari, we had not yet given a great deal of thought to how our ranks might transfer over to their system, and there were some inconsistencies in the ranks that people were assigned in the new guild. After conferring with the leaders of both guilds, I have devised the following guidelines, and moved people around accordingly.
It is entirely possible that I made some errors in assigning people to ranks. Please see me or Fechak if you think there has been an error, or if you have concerns about the guidelines themselves. I'm sure this is not perfect in theory or execution, but I tried to be fair to everyone and to be consistent with the Lunari definitions of their own ranks.
Lords and Council Members -- For any who don't know, the Lunari asked us to have former DoV members in these ranks, to represent the Defenders in council discussions and to help with the transition. I didn't make any changes here.
Nobles and Knights -- Nobles and Knights may seem quite similar, but Nobles have authority to invite new members to the guild, and are expected to coach and mentor new members. Knight is a title that recognizes accomplishment and service to the guild over time, or those who "have proven themselves of great worth and honor" but are new to the Lunari.
Since the description of Knight fits many of our former DoV officers and certain other long term Defenders, I have put the mains of those people in that rank. I have not assigned anyone to the rank of Noble. The only difference in authority between the two is the ability to invite new people to the guild, and I don't think any of us have been with the Lunari long enough to be comfortable with that in any case.
I think there are a number of former Defenders who do or will soon qualify as Nobles, but this will be up to the Lunari council to determine.
Commoner -- this is the default rank, and also where I assigned alts of Lords and Knights.
Initiates -- I left as initiates any who were DoV initiates at the time of transition, except for some who were due for promotion to full membership or qualify for full membership by Lunari guidelines (they have a shorter initiation period than we did.)
