I came across this by accident, it was on the "blog" area that Kielon set up that we never used very much, so I thought I would copy it here. Laranna always makes me smile, even if she is tiring at times. This is a letter she sent to her sister back many levels ago.
Dear Cel,
It is a big day for me, sis! I have now learned more about being a priestess than I ever knew about being a warrior!
When I first was injured, I really thought all the good part of my life was over. You know -- even when I was little I loved running and jumping and swimming contests, and play fights. Remember how you used to be reading or tending things around the house, or studying a rabbit or something -- and I was always running and making noise? Being a warrior was just like a grown-up version of that. Who would have thought that I would end up just following the fighters, singing songs and praying to Elune for them to be healthy and safe?
And who would have thought that I would like it so much? But I do! After all, I know what it is like to be bruised and bleeding, to have your head spinning from some orc's mace or croc's tail. And now, I can help!
Anyway, just after I finished my most recent training at the temple, I had to take care of some things for some dwarf friends of mine in the Burning Steppes. Well, I had never been there before, but they said it was near the Searing Gorge, and of course I knew how to get there! So I talked asked the gryphon master there, how do I get to the Burning Steppes? And she said, the best way was to go through Black Rock Mountain!
Now, I know you've been there lots of times, but I was never, ever there before. I've never been anywhere like it either. I rode up the path -- it's paved with boards, you know -- and up to those huge doors. And it looked scary, but they told me that the part I needed to go was quite safe. But I thought -- what if I get lost? Because that is the one way you and I are alike, Cel, we are both always getting lost!
Well, I decided that I didn't want anyone to see that I, a priestess and former warrior, was scared. So I took a deep breath and thought about one of my favorite Elune songs, and walked right in as if I went there every day for tea.
It is dark in there -- and very warm hot from the lava. I told myself it was really just like Ironforge -- you know how I love it there, of course -- with the stone walls and high ceilings and the lava running through it. But...you know how sometimes you have a dream and something that is normally nice turns big and creepy -- like when you had that dream about Tim and Nigel turning into monsters? Black Rock Mountain was sort of like that. Like a nightmare version of Ironforge.
I don't know why. There weren't really any enemies on the path I was taking. There were some orcs and Tauren, but they didn't pay any attention to me. But the whole place was so big and dark, every sound seemed to echo against the stone and metal. Not when I walked -- elf feet and cloth shoes aren't noisy anywhere. But when those orcs walked by in their armor, I almost had to cover my ears!
Anyway, I followed the instructions the gryphon master gave me, and only got lost three or four times, and a nice gnome helped me out one time, and after a while I came out the other side. And even though there were no enemies in the Mountain, and lots of dragons and ogres and scary stuff in the Burning Steppes, and even though my home town is in a sort of cave too -- I was never so happy to be out in the fresh air in all my life!
Well, that's the only exciting thing that's happened to me lately. How have you been? Are you learning to be a druid still?
