As many of you know, Kalmorith for a long time has maintained an inventory of armor, weapons and other items donated by many of the past and present Defenders. In recent weeks, the Council has decided that this was a great deal of work, and with many of our members being at or near 60 -- and having resources to provide handsomely for our younger alts -- the inventory was not useful enough to be worth the extensive effort.
This leaves us the task of disposing of the existing inventory, and I volunteered Larae for this task, since she is no longer an active character in warrior form.
To be clear -- this discussion has nothing to do with the merger discussion. It just happens that Kalmorith was available a few days ago to forward some of the inventory to Larae, and I had time yesterday to start working on it.
There is no perfectly fair way to distribute these goods. Here is what I have been doing.
Truly rare items or very valuable ones -- 20G or more, in general -- I am keeping in the inventory for now. Mostly, this means the inventory will have blue and purple items. There are some items that, although they are blue, seem to be fairly easy to obtain, and in a few cases I have disposed of them.
The green items are mostly being auctioned, sharded, or vendored. In a few cases, with recipes in particular, I sent some to people I thought might have a use for them. I am primarily relying on Auctioneer to decide whether each item will generate more value by being sold or sharded.
I have, of course, made Larae an enchanter. She will shortly have quite a collection of supplies, and is already at 88, so she can already do lower level enchants and will soon be able to do more. (Since she is 47 I should be able to level the enchanting to 300).
I disposed of everything of my own I had on Larae and started out with 5G of my own to cover initial auction fees. So everything she has, at the moment, belongs to the guild -- easier to keep straight that way.
Full disclosure portion -- I did keep some enchanting recipes that were below 200. If she levels up to 200 and nobody else has claimed the higher level recipes in the inventory, I will probably use them. I also sent a few tailoring recipes to Thelanya, although none of them were rare. A number of green weapons were dispersed to Defenders who happened to be online yesterday afternoon and were able to use them. I told Heng I would send him a Stormshroud recipe as he has become an elemental leatherworker and I don't think we have any others.
Following is a list of items that I have retained in the inventory. If there is something you want, you can send me a message. If there are multiple requests for an item, I will consult with Fechak and decide if someone has a stronger claim. Preference will be given to members who contributed to the inventory back when we were soliciting such donations (that is most of you, anyway, as we have few new members.) If necessary, we will resort to some sort of random selection as we do in the game.
I will add to the list as I get more. Transcribing info on the items was more than I had time to do -- www.thottbot.com
