I'm not sure how many people would agree with me, but I'll go ahead and say it.
A few months ago I told a friend that I was collecting runecloth in the plaguelands. This friend (who is a great leader and really, really knows his stuff) usually had really good advice and I pretty much listened to alot of the stuff he said rather blindly.
Anyway, he asked what I needed runecloth for. I said, "I'm trying to up my first aid skill so I can learn heavy runecloth bandages". He told me that using runecloth for first aid is a waste of perfectly good runecloth, and if I didn't use runecloth for anything else I should sell it at the AH and buy major healing potions.
I'm not sure how many people don't have first aid at 300, but let me just say its a good idea for any class, and in my opinion is a perfectly fine use of runecloth. Last night in BRD it came in handy big time in the giant room right before the emporer's hall. Plus for hunters, you can use your bandages on your pet to help conserve mana.
Like I said before though, I'm not sure if I'm preaching to the choir or not. You all might already know this, and I was just in the dark for too long.
Anyway, It just seems like an excellent back up healing system for when you're going through lengthy fights like last night.

Finney, I agree with you. I keep my first aid up, and more than once it has saved my butt or the butt of someone else by quickly applying a bandage when the feign cooldown or some other limiting factor was in place.
The other day I got some healing onto Polrena when she was only a sliver away from death. I don't know if she was in the progress of casting a self heal or not, but the point is it can make a difference in an emergency.
If you only can get one or two seconds of bandage on before your next impact, it's best that it be the strongest bandage you have.
Also, I want a least one character that has 330+ in all game skills, and Kal is that character.

I hear a lot that classes who can heal do not need first aid. I disagree with that, even though as a tailor, Rheyna sometimes finds it hard to use runecloth on bandages. Priests, healing druids, and holy paladins need first aid as much or more than anyone else.

Agreed, First Aid is so good you can't afford to pass it up. I'd say it's less crucial for healing-capable classes than non-healers, but if you have the cloth, you should be at 300 if at all possible, regardless of capability. The ability to throw a fear or blind, or even just snare and run for a bit- then bandage at no cost is invaluable, both in PvE and PvP combat.

Any Rogue who doesn't have 300 First Aid should be drug out and shot, seriously.
I have won more battles, survived more encounters, and succeeded where I would have failed more times than I can count because I had my First Aid skill leveled as high as it would go, and kept bandages on hand.
If you want a good place to constructively farm Runecloth, I recommend the Tower on the road into Hearthglen, farming off of the Spellbinders. They're weak casters ( Hunters can decimate them ) and they have a percent chance to drop the Crusader Enchant Recipe. I've been farming the spot off and on for the last several weeks to get a recipe drop for Pol, but in the meantime I've probably farmed almost a thousand runecloth which has gone to bandages, to Merlinne for tailoring, or to Pol for turn ins at Ironforge so she could get her Ram.
The farmers there seem to be impeccably stupid too, if you are persistant enough, they'll leave.

First aid is EXCELLENT! Healing potions have cool downs, and bandages can be used while in combat unlike food.
I watched my very favorite warrior kite and kill a named elite mob by using the combination: hamstring, run, bandage, attack again.
It was interesting to watch, and very effective!
