Hi everyone! In case you haven't met me, I'm Larae. My sister Celera has been a member of the Defenders for a little while now, and I keep hearing what a good group it is, so I decided to join too!
Celera finally finished her endless story of our childhood, so if you read it you already know a little bit about me. Well, I guess if she finished it, it can’t exactly be endless, but it sure is long. Anyway, I haven’t read it myself (who has time for sitting around reading about yourself?) but I guess it ends about the time that I ended up living with a dwarf named Gleann. We lived in Loch Modan for a while, and then later we lived in Kharanos with Gleann’s brother, because Gleann works sometimes in Ironforge.
I felt at home living with the dwarves. When I was little, my mother seemed to be impatient with me. She never felt very well and I was always talking or exploring things and getting myself in trouble. Even now, when I visit her, she spends a lot of time just thinking and feeling sad, and I know that she is just pretending to listen when I talk to her. My father was gone a lot – he used to be a spy, sort of. Now he lives in Darnassus where he teaches other elves how to be spies. He has a lot of great stories to tell and I like spending time with him but we aren’t really close.
Gleann and her brother, Groum, were more like my real parents. They didn’t mind if I was always asking questions and getting into things. There was always something to do. I learned the basics of blacksmithing from Groum, and when I was old enough he sent me to a trainer to learn how to fight. I always wanted to be a warrior.
Not that I like war exactly. I’m not one of those warriors who gets excited by the gore of it – bloodlust I think they call it. But sometimes, fighting is the right thing to do, and when it is, I’m ready – and I’m getting pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. It is pretty exciting to be swinging a good two-handed sword and beating back the enemy, whether it’s a real enemy or just a friend you’re practicing with.
I’m really excited about joining the Defenders. If you can put up with my sister I’m sure you can put up with me. I mean, I love my sister, but she can be so weird sometimes. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know all of you and I’ll be happy to help out where ever I can.
