An Enigma Comes In From the Cold
I do not ask your pardon, nor would have you give it on a whim. I have seen much in the past year, but have remained unseen by many, for I have been an initiate of this house for longer than many have graced the guildhalls. In my time, wardens have come and gone, guild masters have swapped tabards, and initiates have been promoted – and then, just as quickly, gone missing: casualties of war, of desires, or of the world of Mundania, a world which has taken more than its fair share of proud Defenders into its gaping maw, never to let go. Mundania took me also, but, Elune be praised!, I managed to return, a relic of past times, a historian of past worlds, and yet, still no more than an enigma.
It is not by choice that I remain unknown to many, even those with whom I share a common purpose: my guild mates. In my heart, I would openly wear my guild’s tabard, fight along side my brethren, aid in the destruction of the Horde and warn my people of coming threats - as any hunter of quality would do. Alas, fate has chosen another course for me – and for Daramoon, a priestess of Elune who has chosen to willingly share this fate -- and my time in the lands has been limited. Just to achieve the passing of 43 seasons has taken what others would consider many lifetimes. There are few left who can hunt beside us in the Defenders, and those who remain will be beyond us before long. Thus has it been in many places, in many worlds, and with many guilds. Still, I write to you this day because I wish to remain both enigma and initiate no longer. Here, therefore, is my pledge: to do as I have always done – honor and respect the House of the Defenders and her members; protect the wild and kill no creatures unnecessarily; and remain true to my values and ethics while maintaining those of the guild. I do not know what strength is in me and where the future will lead, but I give you my word on those three things. Hopefully, this will be enough.

Dear Heng,
We all proceed through our training at different rates as time and circumstance permit. And you are certainly not the only hunter to spend much of their time away from their guildmates on lonely missions. You are fortunate to have Daramoon to accompany you on these ventures.
As hunters ourselves, Lord Kalmorith, Finney and I do not often have the chance to communicate directly with one another, but we will make a point of doing that very soon and responding to your request.
((Very nicely written! I hope that you will be able to find time to write more here from time to time.))

Thank you, M'Lady Celera and M'Lord Landorian. I hope that I can become a full-fledged member of this House soon, as time has permitted me a little more freedom to explore the lands of Azeroth as of late. More and more I find I am enjoying the experience, and having Daramoon at my side - well, more like behind me, hurling Mind Flay over my head - has made it all the more worth the while.
In my lifetime, which has spanned over a hundred seasons - quite normal for elf-kind - I have travelled here and there and have been given many names: scout and ranger among them, and now hunter. The lands I have visited have often scorned those of my class and abilities - Azeroth is no different in that regard, and perhaps it was that fact which dampened my enthusiasm for adventuring a bit early on. Or perhaps I am a bit uncomfortable with having bunny ears (I am used to having rounded or even pointy ears, but floppy ones? That is something new).
It has taken me some time to regain that enthusiasm, and the opportunity to indulge it has not come easily. But now is the time for me to press forward. I hope not to be a burden to this House, or to this guild, and will do all that I can to ensure I am not. I very much appreciate all your wisdom and kind words in my support.

Heng, I know you to be of the highest quality and character, and have heartily endorsed your request for full membership (and that of Daramoon as well, should she wish it). It is, in my opinion, long overdue!

Dara and I thank you, Lord Windfoot, for your kind words and your endorsement. She and I have looked forward to getting more involved in the guild, in many ways. This would make a fine start to our efforts.

Good Heng,
Alas, it is good to see you back in the Halls. Your latest letter was brought to my attention by Warden Celera, and this prompted me to refresh my memory. When I first joined the guild as a young hunter, I do remember you, but alas, I know not if we ever met in person!
The records of the House of Beast indicate you first donned the guild tabard about one year ago. I found a letter of yours written regarding Lord Turi during your 18th Season! I know you were active for a time, but were called away to other duties for a long spell.
I am most happy to have you back in the flesh, and will certainly see that you finally obtain your membership at the next convenience.
Welcome back!
