Val kinda was destined to die, a long time running. I was basically going to make this last heartbreak be the last for him, and give me a reason to start writing other things.
Basically, I don't remember where we were heading, as almost all of my documentation on it was lost on my old HDD. But, from what I remember, I had planned on making the old DOV story of the Guild burning down and what was going on with Val personally, very different.
I had planned on, with the help of some (as it turns out unreliable) friends to pose as Undead enemies, their ultimate purpose in the destruction of Meta and what it has to do with us was never fully explored, as it was halted before I really could get it started. I had intended to let their ultimate purpose to be determined by each and every one of us. Never really having a set story, only the beginning and the end in mind.
But, as for Val's personal story, he was falling in love with that Adaliah girl, after the Battle in Alterac Valley, he would return and spend several happy months with her during her garrison duty at Nethergarde, the only ones that he was able to spend since his childhood and those sparse times with DoV, which was stripped from him as well.
But, as we all knew, the Dark Portal was set to open again, and unfortunately enough. Adaliah was one of those unfortunate few who were in the ensuing battle at the opening of the Dark Portal, Valand would see her death. This, being the breaking point, would lead him to devote his entirety to learning the power to battle Demons and the Undead. Being now an inherent Paladin, he undertook his training, this was to have been written shortly after Adaliah's death. He was going to be trained by Sari Whitehammer and Gareg Whitehammer's father, Baldri (Who is much more dwarfish than his son.) There he would learn of the Burning Crusade, and as much of the Eredar from the information provided by the now stranded Draenai.
He would get as much training as he could muster, then his vengeance would cease to wait. His training left entirely unfinished, he would head into the Dark Portal and to carve out his sorrows in the backs of Demonkin. His aspirations were, however were left short. After searching all over old Draenor, his search led him back to Hellfire Peninsula, there he challenged the Right hand of Kil'jaeden, Doom Lord Kazzak the Supreme. The fight wasn't much of a fight, before Valandur even mustered the will to even cast his first spell or lay his first ward. Kazzak swept his massive blade sending his Shadowbolts slamming into Valand's body, but before the coup de grace could land, Valand managed to pull a Divine Shield around himself, as I had it choreographed. Soon, several of Kazzak's guard surrounded him and Kazzak took this chance to allow depression and frailty to set into Valand. Realizing that his life was at an end, he wept. Kazzak moved to end his life, when the celestial Durindana, which had initially blessed him with the ability to use the Light naturally, came forth finally. After declaring the arrival of Durindana and the Naaru. Kazzak scoffed at her and retorted with saying, "No force, not even the Pantheon could stop the Legion now!" With that, he struck Durindana and Valand, this caused a massive explosion, that repulsed the demons, but left Kazzak himself unharmed.
Valand died there, then. Durindana's whereabouts were left unknown.
So, that was depressing. I was thinking about bringing him back, because of the cliffhanger ending in mind. But that's really a matter of whether or not I feel like writing about him.
