I'm doing viral marketing, I can't tell you, but the title is an epic giveaway... Emi will know.

Well, this cryptic thread got me researching, and I ordered the graphic novel from Amazon (having never *heard* of it before). It arrived this morning, and I have just devoured it. It's fantastic. I'm a convert.

Yessssssss.
I've been following its adaptation for a looooong time now. It's passed hands at least a dozen times with more than that many false starts. Finally it's landed in someone's capable lap. I just hope it doesn't have a bunch of slo-mo-fast-mo shots.
Yes kids, the director of 300 is doing Watchmen.

Having read it, I think I have as many reservations about a screen adaptation as I would for any other great book. In particular I am afraid that the sex and gore in a cinematic medium will overpower the psychological and philosophical drama that gives the story it's real weight. Ah, well - we'll see.

I've been a fan of Alan Moore since forever. Well, since Lost Girls, which I do not recommend for children or those who are easily disturbed.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was so much fun and was pretty much trashed when they made it a film. I am cautiously optimistic about this one, but I admit I hope no one ever tries to make Lost Girls into a film.

meh, Watchmen never really got me that engaged. It is possible that I read it too late, and that while it was revolutionary for its time, it was 'old hat' by the time I came across it. Or maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for those several months when I tried to get into it.
In truth, the "adult" comic book/graphic novel has generally failed to interest me in any significant way. (This from a Neil Gaiman fan, go figure.)
I didn't like 300 either, so I'm not getting excited about this one.
