Well the release of this epic, life-changing game is on the horizon finally. So I'll make a thread for any new things I come across. Including this: Spore Demo at NASA (~30 minutes)

It's quite unfortunate... this game made me sad. I saw the reviews being luke-warm and decided to hold off and hear some word of mouth reviews which turned out being 'meh'. So I... found a copy of the game somewhere and tried it myself. Those reviews were absolutely right... if it could be summed up in one word it would in fact be 'meh'.
I thought maybe getting to the space stage it would be fun, but combat is lame, trade is lame, diplomacy is lame... it's all so watered down on the stage you're supposed to be spending your most time in I can't see myself even attempting to beat the game.
Ah well... at least we're coming into the busy season so I'm sure plenty of great games will come out that will last me into next summer. Anyway, just in case you were thinking of picking it up, it's at least worth a gander, not sure I'd pay anywhere near 50-60 for it that's for sure.

I downloaded it, played through space stage (The Crobbz are a terrible force to be reckoned with!) The most exciting stages for me were the first three.

I have to agree. Jon picked it up mostly because this gives him an excuse to hang out an Fry's for a couple of hours (buying me a game, buying me a new graphics card -- and then our credit card bills are MY fault!).
When I'm tired lately, I tinker with it for a while. Can't see it holding my attention for hours though.
I used to love the Sims, and when Sims 3 comes out I'll probably play it for a while, but the fun thing with that was the random events that happened as a result of different Sim personalities interacting. Don't see much of that at all in Spore. Nothing unexpected at all, in fact.
