OK, this is a rather old SNL sketch, but it is one of the funniest things I have seen in my entire life. (Yes, that's a long time and a lot of funny things to choose from. Be quiet.) Between my family and my ex-husband's family, I believe this covers everything pretty well. For those of you who grew up in happy and well-adjusted families -- well, just be grateful. Be sure to particularly relish the Carol of Intimacy at the end. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4JPdr8jbVIAnd yes, there is some sad irony in seeing Phil Hartman in this, since it turned out his family was so much more dysfunctional than anyone could have guessed. The man was a genius. If you are more a fan of the current SNL, here is an uncensored version of a recent song. Maybe I'm just tired, but this really cracked me up. Also, not safe for work. NOT. Also not safe if there are kids in the room. Or your parents. Or anybody with good taste. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dmVU08zVpA

So, the other day Fech was talking about doing a movie of something -- was it Into the Dark? or A Coward's Tale? -- all in Legos. Which seemed like a lot of work, really. So I came across this website of the Lord of the Rings, acted out with peeps. This seems much simpler, the peeps come in several colors and shapes, and you won't have to worry about what to serve at the wrap party. humor.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.lordofthepeeps.com/

I saw one panhandler holding a sign once that read, "Why lie? Need a beer."
That man got my money.

Ack.. my cheek would have been burning for a week. That was horrible. Mostly our drunk bums are not so friendly. On behalf of the people of Georgia, I apologize again.

Someone gave me a "page a day" calendar of websites. The site for January 2 is a calculator sponsored by the Dept. of Health and Human Services. ncadi.samhsa.gov/features/interact/calc/If you input how many cigarettes, drinks, and drugs you take in the course of a week, and how much these things cost, it will tell you how much money you would save by giving up these habits. Two things occur to me. 1. If you cannot do this yourself -- if you have forgotten how to multiply -- you have taken too many drugs. 2. If you are seriously considering entering onto a US Government website the amount of illegal drugs you routinely purchase -- you have taken too many drugs.

Some of you will be interested (as I am) in the low ecological footprint and sustainable technology of this house. All of you will probably think it is cool (I do) that this Brit seems to have built himself a hobbit house. www.simondale.net/house/index.htm
